Inexpensive way to create vital, wave-like water movement in reef aquariums
Compact, rotating deflector turns your existing powerhead into a wavemaker. Simply attach to a powerhead to generate beneficial water movement. Geared unit rotates 360° to produce a wave-like effect without added energy costs - it's powered by water pressure. Improves gas exchange/oxygenation and simulates natural ocean conditions in reef aquariums with corals and invertebrates. Recommended flow rate between 80 to 310 gph. Included adapters fit most outlets. 2-1/4" dia x 3".

Flo-Rotating Deflector?
It transforms the static flow of almost any powerhead into a multi-directional wavemaker. The alternating current mimics those of the ocean and stimulates corals. Plus, it's powered by your powerhead's output, so it doesn't add any additional energy costs.
Installation Instructions
Using the supplied adaptors, connect the Hydor FLO to the outlet or return line of a filter, pump, or powerhead. The water flow/output of the device should be rated between 80 and 310 gallons per hour. This flow rate will determine the rotation speed of the Hydor FLO.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance of the Hydor FLO will guarantee better performance. Before performing any maintenance on the Hydor FLO, disconnect power to the pump or powerhead.
To disassemble the unit, first detach the Deflector by pressing the white "nose" located in the front of the device.
Gently remove the Gear Support Frame by lifting the Locking Clamps located on each side of the Deflector Body. All components should now disassemble easily for cleaning.
Rinse all parts thoroughly with lukewarm water. If necessary, remove deposits with a clean soft brush. Do not use detergent or solvents.
Re-assemble the Hydor FLO in reverse order, making sure all parts are in the correct position.
Before re-connecting the Hydor FLO to the filter/pump, blow inside the Deflector Body to make sure the Propeller rotates freely.
Troubleshooting
If the Hydor FLO does not rotate, check to see if
The powerhead/pump is plugged in to an electrical outlet.
The powerhead/pump is damaged.
The powerhead/pump is clogged or dirty.
The Hydor FLO is dirty.

WOW! This inexpensive little gadget is spectacular! I purchased TWO and need 2 more! This makes just about any power head into a wavemaker! My corals love it! My fish love it! No more extra electrical cords to hassle with. Simple excellent design that runs on the pumps own water pressure/force. THIS is a simple yet most effective tool to have in your reef tank!
This product is great! I attached it to my Aqua Clear 50 powerhead and it creates the ideal current in my 20 gallon reef. Highly recommend this to everyone.
Just installed it into My Nano-Cube 12g DX (with upgraded Maxi-Jet 900).... it's SWEET! I swear it's like it was MADE for this tank. I would buy another one (I may just do it for my 10g at home) in a heart beat! It's a MUST have for "distributing" your flow. 2 thumbs up here.
I added this to my Aquaclear 50 power head. It's by far the best option you could add to any power head, it works very very well, and I'm very pleased to own this product.
I bought 2 and mounted them on my 2 Rio 600's and put them on each end of my 80 gallon Reef tank. They work great for the price and are well worth the money.
This product is great! My fiji yellow leather was on its way to death when I installed this miracle product. Now the coral has enough water flow and flourished.
This may not be the best answer out there for wavemaking, but this product does a great job for the cost. I bought two of them and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Very easy to clean up as it pulls apart to rinse and scrub off any algae growth. If you don't have a lot of cash to spend, but want good water movement throughout your tank, buy this product, you won't regret it!
I decided to build another SPS dominated tank but did not want to invest in a second wavemaker. I bought four of the flo deflectors and put them on some Maxi-Jet 1200s I had stored in the garage and they were awesome - complete water movement throughout the 240g tank and the SPS love the currents they create, and best of all, I don't have to worry about motor burn outs!!!
An important component of a natural environment is water movement. Corals and invertebrates need irregular currents for both feeding and waste removal. Wavemakers have been developed to meet this need by imitating ocean currents in the aquarium.
A crucial - and often overlooked - aspect of keeping a reef aquarium is water movement. Proper water movement goes a long way toward helping a reef system thrive. Corals and other reef inhabitants are accustomed to rapid, constant water movement.
Water current is essential to nourish and feed your aquarium's inhabitants, as well as clean and regulate your aquarium's water. In addition, poor water movement hinders biological filtration, which in turn, raises toxins to dangerous levels.
