Rubber hand grip eliminates transmission of hand heat to reduce errors
Features the largest, sharpest scale display
for the most accurate salinity and specific
gravity readings available (±1.0% salinity
and ±0.001 specific gravity). Easy, no-tool
calibration, with automatic compensation for shifts in ambient temperature
(from 10°- 30°C). Compact and portable for use anywhere. Metal housing and
rubber hood protect unit and prevent light from entering eyepiece. Features built-in
calibration ring, no-roll stand, rubber grip to insulate against hand heat, storage
case, instructions, and more. Range: 0 - 100 parts per thousand salinity, 1.000-1.070 specific gravity.

Range: Salinity: 0-100%; Specific Gravity: 1.000-1.070 Resolution: Salinity: 1%; Specific Gravity: 0.001 Accuracy: Salinity: +1%; Specific Gravity: +0.001 Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): Yes Sample Temperature: 10-30°C Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 185 mm Weight: 285 g
Easy to Use
Operation consists of placing 1 to 2 drops of the sample on the prism, closing the daylight plate over the sample, then looking through the focusable, cushioned-rubber eyepiece for the reading.
Accurate
Featuring the larges, easiest-read scale available with clear, sharp figures. These features significantly enhance the overall accuracy of our readouts - even when the instrument is used by several different operators. This model features a rubber grip on the body, which blocks the transmission of hand heat to reduce temperature errors.
Simple Calibration
The calibration ring eliminates the hassle of turning a calibration screw with a screwdriver while looking through the refractometer's eyepiece. Simply loosen the set screw, place a few drops of water on the prism, turn the built-in calibration ring until the shadowline is at zero, and secure the set screw - that's it.
Durable
Features a rugged construction for years of reliable use. The prism is mounted in all-metal housing which allows the sample and prism to reach temperature equilibrium quickly. Also features a non-roll stand to ensure that once the unit is set down, it won't be prone to roll off a table or benchtop.

I've been using this refractometer for years. It works well and still functions/feels like new. It doesn't have the cheap "feel" that I've found with others of the same style. It compensates for temp. differences making it much simpler to use. As long as I don't drop it, it will be the last one I ever have to buy.
I simply love this refractometer. It's so easy to use and extremely accurate. There's no complicated calibrations or tools to use. A must have for anyone with a professional marine tank. It even came with a neat storage bag!
Testing your water parameters is an important method of foreseeing problems in your aquatic ecosystem before they result in catastrophe. Luckily, tools that were once only accessible (and affordable) to advanced hobbyists have since become simpler.
Specific gravity measures the relative salinity (amount of dissolved salts) in your aquarium water in comparison to pure water. Measuring specific gravity on a regular basis is crucial to maintain the ideal environment for your marine inhabitants.

Don't take the quality of your tap water for granted. If you draw your water from a well, nature may not be providing you the perfect balance. If you are using tap water from your municipal department, it likely includes minerals and additives.
