Main sump allows for additional protein skimmer, submersible pump, or other equipment
High quality acrylic wet/dry sump filter is engineered for quiet and easy operation. Unique multi-chambered sump expels air bubbles quietly through the primary "Bubble Chamber" and through a final bubble defusing sponge. Reduces gurgling noises and air bubbles that may affect pump performance. Features removable filter media drawer that slides out easily to be filled with your favorite media for custom filtration. Large biological media chamber comes filled with bio-media, and molded media grate keeps media above the water line for efficient bio-filtration. Main sump reservoir accommodates additional protein skimmer, calcium reactor, submersible pump, or other equipment. Requires appropriate siphon overflow system for undrilled aquariums.

This filter is quite amazing. It is made of tough acrylic, and has plenty of room for heaters, pumps, skimmers, and what ever else you want to hide from the tank. It is also surprisingly quiet, no louder than a Marineland emporer, thanks to the bubble chamber. It also does a great job of evenly distributing the water over the bioballs for maximum bacterial growth.
I have the MegaFlow 1 for my 65 gal reef and I like the way it has three areas instead of two. I put my heater and my Marineland marine pro 100 skimmer in the center zone before the defuser sponge and I never have to worry about bubbles in the tank. The third area holds my Mag drive 7 return pump and my Coralife turbo twist UV sterizer pump Excellent design! I'm getting a bigger one for my next tank.
Spanning the most basic to the most advanced applications, a seemingly mundane piece of equipment, a sump, can provide numerous benefits, most important of which is improved water conditions.
Don't take the quality of your tap water for granted. If you draw your water from a well, nature may not be providing you the perfect balance. If you are using tap water from your municipal department, it likely includes minerals and additives.
Algae are prolific and opportunistic organisms that take advantage of aquarium systems that are out of balance. Water quality issues create ideal conditions for algae. This article explains how proper water quality helps control algae.
