This super-fine sand (0.2 to 1.22 mm grain size) is ideal for shallow static beds and bottom covering of up to 1" in depth. Also known as "oolitic" sand, this sugar-sized sand naturally aids in the reduction of nitrates. Its fine round grains pass easily through the gills of gobies and other sand-sifting organisms. The smooth, round grains are gentle on soft-bellied sharks and rays. Pure and safe - metal, ash, and silica free. White in color. 30 pounds.

After decades of using crushed coral as a substrate, I finally tried Aragamax Sand. Now I'm asking myself, "what took you so long?" I love it. My animals love it, and it looks and performs so much better! If you're starting a new saltwater tank, or upgrading an existing one, sand is the only way to go.
Great stuff! Looks amazing, and bottom dwellers love to dig in it. Not to mention this price beats every other store (online or brick and mortar) pound for pound!
I decided I wanted to have a more natural looking reef tank so I purchased some Aragamax Reef Sand. This sand is easy to use and doesn't take much time to wash. I added it in to my tank and within the next day the cloudyness had cleared up. This sand has definitely made my tank more natural looking and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is starting up a reef tank!
I use Aragamax now exclusively in all the salt water tanks I set up with my maintenance business. Since I started using, I haven't had a problem with nitrates. Great for sand beds.
Determining how much substrate to buy for your new aquarium depends on the size and shape of your tank, as well as the depth of the substrate bed you wish to achieve. Another factor is the type of aquascaping structure you're planning.
Refugiums, small aquariums that either sit next to or hang onto an existing saltwater or reef aquarium, are used by a growing number of aquarists to continually cycle water into and out of the existing tank.
Spanning the most basic to the most advanced applications, a seemingly mundane piece of equipment, a sump, can provide numerous benefits, most important of which is improved water conditions.
