GLO T5 Electronic Ballast Installation
Warning: Disconnect the ballast plug and all other electrical equipment used for the aquarium before placing your hands in aquarium water or performing maintenance of any kind.
Follow these instructions whenever installing fluorescent tubes.
To install fluorescent bulbs of the correct diameter and wattage, insert the bulb into the water-resistant end cap so that the pins align with the internal sockets. Push while inserting the bulb into the end cap to ensure a positive connection.
The fluorescent bulb retaining clips should be securely installed to a solid surface to ensure a safe and secure mount.
The fluorescent ballast housing provides a slot for vertically suspending the unit on a securely fastened screw head. The ballast should be located in a properly ventilated area, away from humidity, moisture, flammable objects, and fragile surfaces. The fluorescent ballast housing is equipped with ventilation slots to allow heat to escape. Do not obstruct these vents in any way and make sure that any dust or debris is promptly removed.
This unit is not waterproof and must be protected from any contact with water.
Avoid contact with this unit if hands are wet.
GLO T5 Electronic Ballast Installation
Replacing the tubes (bulbs):
Unscrew the compression fit cap from the end caps while supporting the fluorescent tube. This procedure must be performed at both ends of each fluorescent tube being replaced.
Carefully pull out the fluorescent tube and slide out the compression fit water resistant end caps. Make sure the seal ring remains in position.
Install new fluorescent tubes. Make sure to slide back the compression fit caps with the threads facing the end caps.
Carefully insert the pins of the fluorescent tube into the end caps.
Carefully support the fluorescent tube with one hand and gently screw the compression fit cap onto the end cap.
Warning: Make sure that the threaded end caps are tightly screwed onto the end cap for a secure installation. If properly installed, the fluorescent tube should not slip out.
Maintenance: Warning: Always unplug all electrical aquarium accessories when placing hands in water. The electrical supply cord of this lighting cannot be replaced. If any of the cords are damaged, the entire unit should be discarded.
Cleaning the Unit:
Do not place the GLO T5 Electronic Ballast new aquarium filter outputs or expose it to water spray or humidity. Do not submerge in water.
Make sure that the heat vents are kept free and clear of any obstruction, dust, or debris. Use a cloth to wipe away any debris that may obstruct the heat vents.
No special maintenance is required for the GLO T5 Electronic Ballast other than periodic cleaning with a cloth. Never use harsh chemical products or detergents. To remove calcareous deposits from the bulb sockets, it is recommended to use a mild acid such as vinegar, followed by a thorough wipe down with a damp cloth to remove any residue.
It is strongly recommended to always follow the precautions and procedure outlined in the installation instructions.
GLO Reflector Care:
It is highly recommended to clean your GLO Reflector weekly with a damp soft cloth. For a saltwater aquarium, make sure that any salt deposits are promptly removed.
