Functional marine substrate increases buffering capacity of your aquarium
Real Caribbean live sand in a patent pending breathable bag. Ocean Direct aragonite live sand ensures faster, safer initial cycling and better bio-filtration throughout the life of your reef system. Delivers millions of living bacteria per pound, reduces nitrate, enhances buffering for the life of your system, and discourages nuisance algae. Also aids coral growth and resists the precipitation of carbonate minerals. 77% of Original Grade Substrate is, by weight, less than 1 mm in size (most of that are smaller than 0.66 mm). Oolite Substrate is almost exclusively sub 1 mm oolite (most of this will be less than 0.60 mm in size).
Used by the foremost public aquariums, research and government institutions, and professionals worldwide. Proven to reduce nitrates.

Store at room temperature. Do not open bag until you are ready to use it. For best results, use approximately 1 pound of Caribbean Live Sand per gallon of saltwater. Rinsing is not necessary but recommended if you are adding to an established and stocked aquarium.
Directions for use
Place in the bottom of the empty aquarium and reserve the packet of clarifier for later use. Fill aquarium with saltwater. To avoid excessive cloudiness, place empty bag on top of the substrate to minimize churning of the bed. Turn on all aquarium system filtration and circulation. Live rocks or aquarium décor may now be added. Dilute the included packet of clarifier concentrate into a larger volume of water using a clean (not soapy!) jar or other container. Pour into the system slowly in an area of high water flow for maximum dispersion. Clarifier will reposition free-floating bacteria to bio-filtration surfaces and rapidly clear any remaining cloudiness. When water is clear, most invertebrates may be placed in the aquarium. However, gradually introduce fish within the first three weeks, and do not exceed one inch of fish per 5 gallons of water during this time.
Surface area (measured by BET N2 method) = .728m2/g = 3,569 ft 2/lb. Biogenic and clastic grain composition

This is an excellent substrate, the size of the particles are just right not too fine and not too large. My reef tank looks great with this sand and I highly recommend it to others!
This product is absolutely beautiful! This is the first substrate I've ever used and I wouldn't go with anything else. I recently upsized to a tank double the size and plan to stock it with souly this.
Determining how much substrate to buy for your new aquarium depends on the size and shape of your tank, as well as the depth of the substrate bed you wish to achieve. Another factor is the type of aquascaping structure you're planning.
Refugiums, small aquariums that either sit next to or hang onto an existing saltwater or reef aquarium, are used by a growing number of aquarists to continually cycle water into and out of the existing tank.
Spanning the most basic to the most advanced applications, a seemingly mundane piece of equipment, a sump, can provide numerous benefits, most important of which is improved water conditions.
