Familiarize yourself with local predators - Depending on where you live, different predators may pose a threat to pond fish. Examples of pond predators include raccoons, opossums, muskrats, beavers, otters, foxes, and even bears. Herons and kingfishers may also visit to become unwanted guests for pond keepers.
