Tips
During the winter, turn the solar light(s) off if it is going to snow. After the snow melts, charge the light for at least six hours in direct, full sunlight. Turn the solar light(s) on again.
Use Instructions:
The solar light coverts sunlight into electricity to recharge the battery. At night, the light turns on automatically and works continuously until the battery is fully drained. The light illumination period depends on your geographic location, weather conditions, and seasonal light availability. Full operation requires at least a six hour charge under direct, full sunlight.
Operating Instructions:
Simply press the "ON/OFF" switch located on the bottom of the sphere. Prior to first use, allow the light to fully charge under direct, full sunlight for at least six hours. After charging, turn the light "ON."
Troubleshooting:
If the light does not turn on at night, ensure the light has been fully charged for at least six hours under direct, full sunlight.
Ensure the light is located in an area where the solar panel gets the maximum amount of full sunlight. Shadowed locations will not allow the battery to fully charge.
Overcast or cloudy days will not allow the light to fully charge. Wait until the next sunny day to fully charge the light.
If the light has been fully charged for at least six hours under direct, full sunlight, the battery may need replacement. To replace the battery, see "Care Instructions" below.
Alternate Installation Instructions:
The solar light can also be mounted on a stand or suspended from a post (both not included). For stand mounting, simply screw a suitable stake-style stand to the bottom of the solar light. To suspend from a post or Shepard's hook stand (both not included), run a thin wire (not included) through the hole in the top nub and tie onto your desired stand.
Care Instructions
Maintenance for Single Color Solar Light Spheres:
The included 600 mAH, 1.2 volt NiCad battery will function for approximately one full year under normal use. If your solar light only lights for two to three hours, despite having been charged in direct, full sunlight for at least six hours, the battery may need replacing. To replace the battery:
Open the bottom of the light by removing each of the four Phillips head screws.
Remove the bottom cover.
Replace the old battery with a new 600 mAH, 1.2 volt Nickel Cadmium battery, available at your local hardware or home improvement store.
Replace the bottom cover and each of the four Phillips head screws.
Cleaning: Use a soft, wet cloth to wipe away any water deposits. A mild, non-abrasive cleaner may be used. Do not use bleach, if any cleaners have been used in the cleaning process. Rinse and dry extremely thoroughly before returning to your pond.
