General Information Adjustable Aquarium Monitoring Unit
The Marina Aqua-Minder has been designed to provide all aquariums with continuous temperature monitoring as well as a basic maintenance schedule. The Aqua-Minder will flash and beep when a given maintenance function is due and/or the temperature has dropped or exceeded the programmed values. Fish health depends on accurate water temperature and good water quality. The Aqua-Minder will visually and audibly assist you in taking care of your aquarium.
Features:
High Temperature Alarm
This user-programmed value represents the highest temperature you would want your aquarium to reach (typically 80ºF for most tropical fish). If your aquarium temperature rises above this value, the Marina Aqua-Minder will alert you.
Low Temperature Alarm
This user-programmed value represents the lowest temperature you would want your aquarium to reach (typically 75ºF for most tropical fish). If your aquarium temperature drops below this value, the Marina Aqua-Minder will alert you.
10% Water Change
Regular water changes are essential for maintaining optimal water quality for a healthy thriving aquarium. A weekly 10% water change will ensure good water conditions for most aquariums. The 10% value is user-programmable and can be adjusted to accommodate any installation. Heavily populated aquariums can benefit from higher percentage water change.
Filter Maintenance
Verification of the aquarium filter should be carried out at least once a month. Hosing, intake strainers, suction cups, filter media, moving parts such as impellers etc should be inspected and maintained, if necessary. Efficient water filtration is directly related to the type of filter media present in a filter. For best results, follow the manufacturer's recommended filter media replacement schedule.
System Check
A complete verification of all aquarium hardware and the maintenance thereof is recommended at least every 6 months. The frequency for the System Check function is user-programmable and should be programmed accordingly to reflect the type of aquarium. All filter components, such as hosing, suction cups, impellers, media, filter accessories, such as skimming devices, should be thoroughly cleaned and replaced, if necessary.

Works very well, I always had a problem with remembering to write down on the calender when I needed to do mainenance. Now I just check this to see what's due. Plus the bonus of the temperature monitor. Before I had this, I had a heater fail in the on position and killed all my fish. I would recommend this product.
Product works great and the temperature readings are very accurate - I especially like having the High/Low alarm settings; particularly useful for tanks with heaters AND chillers. My only issue is that the scheduling of events is locked into weeks (one week, two weeks, etc.) and you can't switch between days/weeks/months. Also, the temperature alarm only beeps a few times when the temperature reaches threshold - I would also want the option to have a persistant temperature alarm.
I have two of these. They are 2 degrees apart so obviously are not accurate but are still priceless. Just adjust the settings for heat and cold alarms accordingly and use a glass thermometer for backup. The alarm feature has saved my reef several times when heaters failed either on or off, potentially saving me MANY hundreds of dollars of lost coral I grew from frags that I cannot afford to replace. One major bummer is the batteries, I can't seem to find replacements. Unit works for about a year before you need new ones.
