Excellent stuff here. I have a 3 inch deep bed of it in my 55 gallon, and even though the plants I bought were in bad condition from a retailer, they were up and growing within a week. I would recommend this for anyone growing plants in their aquarium. And as a plus, it doesn't hurt my bottom dwellers when they dig. |

I have my first planted tank and without a doubt eco-complete deserves all the praise it gets and more. Ready to add, lovely dark color, and the water clears up quickly. Also, the makers of the substrate can't be beat for helpful service if you have any questions or problems. A worthwhile and valuable product! |

Eco-Complete is worth every penny. I was using regular aquarium substrate, and my plants would not stay rooted, nor did they seem to thrive. I tore down the tank, replaced the substrate with Eco-Complete, and my plants are as happy as I am. There is a noticeable difference in the plants health. If you are thinking of having a planted tank then Eco-Complete is worth looking at. |

I really like this product. I wanted a sandy type substate, rather than gravel, but plants don't grow right in the regular black sand I was previously using. This product has both small and large grains which are ideal for the root structures. I highly recommend this.... and the price can't be beat. |

I love that it came packed in water and ready to add. It's such a pain to rinse large quantities of substrate so this is a nice bonus. Also, Drs. Foster and Smith are very reasonable when it comes to shipping so this is by far the cheapest place to buy hard-to-find substrates such as this. |

An excellent product, creates a gorgeous natural looking planting bed and an excellent environment for golden clams, who are able to dig very easily into it and seem to get all the minerals they need for strong shells. |

I have been using this for awhile now, and I was very pleased with my success. First off the bag comes packed in Amazon black water so you do not need to rinse it. Next the black color really does enhance the color of my fish and plants seem to grow really well in it. The biologicals seem to help with the cycle of the tank. I have not had any strange slime or algae with this at all. |

I'm new to aquarium plants and set up a Marineland Eclipse System 12 with a 20lb bag of Eco-Complete. The lightbulb that came with the tank is only 13W, but my plants are growing FAST! I have an Amazon sword, some crypts, anubias nana and corkscrew vals. The nana is supposed to be slow growing, but it has grown from 4" to 5" in 2.5 weeks! Great stuff! |

I have used many varieties of aquatic soil, conventional and non conventional. This kind is my favorite. Don't be afraid to purchase quality. It is worth it! You will not be disappointed. |

The best substrate on the market for planted aquariums. I was looking for a good black planted substrate and found it here.It also separates automatically into different layers leaving the biggest particles on top but still keeping a sandy look. It comes wet (double bagged) for the bacteria inside it. And this may sound strange but with this substrate and seeding bacteria and ammonia I cycled my aquarium in about 5 days!! This is great stuff and I will be surely using it on my future planted discus tank! |

WOW had I known what a difference this stuff makes, I would have swapped out my substrate long ago. Three days, and the colors of my plants have already improved dramatically. Also added a some Floramax for color. This added a nice touch, as the grain size is large and you can use it in a similar manner as decorative gravel used in gardens. |

Fantastic product! I don't use co2 and my plants are flourishing. I've had it in my 20 gallon planted tank for almost a year, and plan to use it in my future planted tanks. |

Great for plants. Not so great for bottom dwellers. I researched this product to find out if it would be safe for my group of Corydoras Sterbai. After reading many reviews, I thought that it would be safe for them. The good news is that their barbels remain intact but their pelvic fins get torn to shreds on Eco-complete. Nobody seemed to mention this in any of the reviews I have read. Bottom line: Use caution with active bottom dwellers. |

I fully agree with all the other testimonials. I bought a bag of Eco-Complete when I started my planted tank. Two weeks later my Java Fern is already producing new plants! Eco-Complete is doing it all, as I"m not adding any additional additives or CO2. Thanks for a great product!! |

I looked around at all the different gravel out there. I decided that I would try this and I have a three inch base of this gravel. It is the best , my fish are doing great and the plants. You must try this., I do a lot less water changes also. |

This product is the best in my opinion, I agree with the other reviewers. Great for plants, no rinsing required, so if you are changing out a substrate this is a huge advantage. And its dark color does bring out colors in your fish. It is also noticeably softer than other substrates so I think digging bottom dwellers can have their fun without getting injured. |
